The wet connection...

I was awakened from my deep sleep by something wet touching my cheek....was it some dream that had made a tear tickle down my cheek..startled i woke up to find two black button like eyes set below two silky soft pink ears staring at me smudging my cheeks with a wet nose and whimpering to be taken out for the morning job.
This white furry bundle became a part of  our family almost twelve years back.I still vividly remember the most scared, huddled in a corner ,just a month old pup in the vet's shop.My daughter instantly picked this one brushing aside the others who were seemingly more beautiful with golden or black shades blending in their white fur.The one my daughter picked had one kohl lined eye and one slighlty smaller kohl deprived eye.The scare in the pets eye made it look very vulnerable and we all connected instantly to her.
When my daughter stepped out of the car with the little pup in her arms her father reacted by saying "kya bawaal le aayi" and walked away with a frown not realising that a few months later he will have a doting follower falling all over him no matter how unwelcomed it was.
Many startling facts unveiled themselves the moment our pet came.Like i never knew so many of my friends were live encylopedias on dogs. Each had his /her own set of books to raise a dog. From how to toilet train to how to make them obey one word commands.Initially i tried to train tuffy yes she was called tuffy, the book style but soon realised that she was a very independent strong headed dog.She refused to obey one word commands but very obediently followed full sentences spoken to her.
Over uncountable chewed objects how and  when this little furry bundle started commanding us we never realised. I do not remember when did we fall in love with the way she grasped our hand and put it on her neck signalling us to tickle her for as long as she wished to.
Any visitor whom tuffy did not like or vice versa was never invited again. She was the epicentre of all our conversations.People whom we can trust or not was decided by the intensity of tuffy's anger and barking at the arrival of the respective person.
She embarrased me at millions of moments, like jumping and sitting on the sofa before a guest could take his seat or wagging her toungue out with saliva dripping from the side of her mouth when sweets are served to the guest completely avoiding our gaze and refusing to buzz from her place.
So many times she has scared guests and made us turn red in our face by pulling herself up on her two front leg at the dining table asking for her share of cucumbers and onions.
She has driven me to the edge so many times by waking us up in the middle of the night to go out,or by her hatred for kids which has restricted the visits of so many of our friends to our place. So many  can not be done have entered with her to our household but inspite of all this she is the most lovable gift from God to us.
She is the best companion i have..someone who can hear me for hours and keep everything to herself.Someone who comes and licks my ears when i am upset as if to remind me why are you upset when you have a spoiled brat like me. Ohhh how i love her in that moment.
No matter how ill-behaved she is,no matter how many times she has embarrassed me in front of visitors by her greediness or aggressive behaviour she wins our hearts back by her innocent i have done nothing gaze and her leisurely stance on my bed with the look "I am the boss" on her face..
