Its all around us..in the lazy breeze..in the blossoming fragrant mango trees..in the dry pale leaves strewn all around..this is how holi creeps in every year..But this year its a bit too special as its my first as a MOM-IN-LAW.Oh how this new tag has been levied on me in so many different ways by so many different people.Never was I burdened down so much by any new begining nor felt as if a huge responsbility has been downed on me as people made me feel about this MOM-IN-LAW status. Here I was sinking in the happiness of the new induction in my family and there people were like "chalo bhai bahut badi zimmedari poori ho gayi","kuch bojh halka huya "and would end by but you do not look old enough to have a daughter of marriagable age.OKKK so the first criteria to be a mom in law is to look old..If you are going to marry your daughter or son then please have white streaks, slightly sagging ,a little puffy here,a little puffy there skin..Haha in this era of so many means available to keep you young and vibrant, the Indian MOM -IN -LAW has to look old and haggard, though she must be relieved that "beti ka bojh utar gaya uske sir se.."LOLZ..what a paradox..Once looks have been taken care of, a book of norms is readily available...how to dress,be more cautious in your social outings, you should be always a bit laid back cause now your days of freaking out and enjoying with friends are over..Arre ab toh aap saas ban rahi hai toh how can u drink and enjoy, ladke walon ko pata chal gaya toh???????Initially I was a bit perplexed..here people were adamant on making me feel like an old foggy and there my daughter was asking me to lose weight and get more fitter cause she wanted me to look the most beautiful mom on her D-DAY...I was advised on my liqour fondness and here my Son-in law was enjoying drinks with us..LOLZ
So all cautions thrown in the air busied myself in marriage preperations..Tried all remedies at home and in the parlour too to get a glowing radiant look...added all bright colours to my wardrobe for the wedding, danced and wined with my friends to celeberate the oncoming marriage..
So with the same jest and energy I am going to celeberate my first Holi with my Son-in -law oops my son
and be ready for the next impending phase in my life of "ohh but you do not look old enough to be a grandmother"..HAHAAHhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
